Khoo Boo Jin

Khoo Boo Jin read Law at the National University of Singapore and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 1991. He specializes in civil and commercial litigation.

His practice includes acting for clients in complex commercial, corporate and property disputes in the Court of Appeal and the High Court. He has also represented landlords of large commercial complexes in disputes with their tenants, and represented property developers in disputes regarding the development and sale of property. He has acted in complex litigation concerning the administration of estates and trusts, the enforcement of foreign judgments, disputes between joint venture partners, and claims of professional negligence.

He has represented the administrator of an estate in a dispute involving assets purportedly valued at more than S$200 million. He has also successfully acted in an application for an injunction to freeze assets valued at more than US$14 million.

As lead counsel, he has successfully represented clients in significant cases decided by the Court of Appeal, including the following:

      (a)       Moulmein Development Pte Ltd v. Teo Teck Guan & Another [1998] SGCA 3 (whether the necessary elements of adverse possession have been proved)
      (b)       Hiap Huat Pottery (S) Pte Ltd v. TV Media Pte Ltd [1998] SGCA 67 (whether there was a collateral contract between the parties)
      (c)       Ong Jane Rebecca v. Lim Lie Hoa and Others [2005] SGCA 4 (whether the plaintiff was entitled to a common account of the deceased's estate or an account on the basis of willful default)
      (d)       Fones Christina v. Cheong Eng Khoon Roland [2005] SGCA 43 (whether an adverse possessor's title was extinguished by his failure to lodge a caveat before the caution on the land title was cancelled)

He is an instructor in the Postgraduate Practical Law Course conducted by the Board of Legal Education for law graduates intending to practise law in Singapore.
